Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an appointment?

No, you don’t need an appointment unless you can’t make it in during normal business hours. If that’s the case, then call and we’ll be glad to find a date and time that works for both of us.

Do you have 50% off coupons like your competitors?

Those 50% off coupons are a gimmick to make you think you’re getting a good deal.  You’ll find that Studio 7 prices are about the same as their “discounted” price.

Why is custom framing more expensive than off-the-shelf frames?

Custom framing is an investment in high quality artwork. We use the best materials and each project is custom designed and carefully constructed. With conservation-grade materials, your art will also last a lifetime.

Mass manufacturers cut costs by using cheap materials. These materials are inexpensive, but also are not rated to last a lifetime, and in some cases will actually cause harm to your artwork.

How do you ensure my artwork is preserved?

For artwork and shadowboxes that need to be protected, we have several conservation-quality options to choose from.

  • Mats – acid-free mats made of cotton will ensure your artwork doesn’t get acid burns from regular paper mats. These come in many textures and colors.
  • Glazing – glass is available with ultraviolet coating to block 99% of the damaging light rays. We have UV-blocking glass in a variety of finishes: regular, non-glare, and museum grade.
  • Mounting – hinge mounts and other alternative mounting options will ensure your artwork can be removed from the backing board, should you need to remove the item from the framing.

How long will it take to get my finished artwork?

If you have a rush – please let us know! Many times we can accommodate a rush order.

The timing of when you can pick up your order depends on a lot of variables, such as if we have your moulding, matting, and glass in stock, or if materials have to be special ordered. The timing also depends on the complexity of the project and the number of orders ahead of yours.

We will do everything in our power to meet your deadline — just let us know at the beginning of the consultation.
